On this podcast of the Natasha Helfer Podcast, Natasha is joined by Allison Shiffler (@therapywithallison_) for a live discussion on repressed sexuality and the religious culture of shame, and more specifically, how this affects individuals in the context of sex addiction, impulsive behavior, hookup trauma, and the pain of hiding what could be healthy authenticity.  

About the Guest:

Allison is a licensed therapist with over 10 years of experience in providing counseling services. She has her Masters of Social Work from Columbia University.

Allison has a diverse background, including work with teenage girls in in-patient recovery and as a therapist for veterans. She has also worked as a victim's advocate for child survivors of sexual abuse and as a forensic therapist specializing in severe mental illness in Utah.

Allison is supportive of sex-positive education, feminist theory, and is an LGBTQ-informed therapist. Allison is passionate about helping religious clients navigate their faith within their belief system and is skilled in assisting with faith transitions and overcoming shame-based beliefs.
